We’re Recruiting a Marketing and Events Manager

We are looking for a skilled professional to join our team and develop a marketing strategy to raise brand awareness and maximise our customer and community engagement.


Job title: Marketing & Events Manager 

Hours: 37.5 per week (full-time, permanent)

Salary: £40,000 p.a.

Location: Mile End Climbing Wall, E3 5BE 


About Us: 

We are Mile End Climbing Wall - London´s first climbing centre and one of the handful in the country which are not-for-profit. We were founded in 1986 and 2 years later we became officially registered as the charity - Development through Challenge. We believe that physical challenges improve people’s well-being, so our mission has always been to remove barriers to participation and support a diverse climbing community which is accessible and welcoming to everyone. 


Role Overview:

This is a diverse, exciting role covering a wide remit including on and offline campaigns, internal and external communications, publications, digital activities, events and PR to promote Mile End Climbing Wall and our parent charity Development Through Challenge. If you are a self motivated individual looking to make a difference, then you could be just the person we’re looking for!

Responsible to the Operations Manager, this is a position to:

  • Work with the Senior Managers, Trustees and CEO, to deliver the overall marketing and communications strategic plan for Mile End Climbing Wall (MECW) and Development through Challenge DtC), and manage its operational implementation. 
  • Lead on the development of the MECW and DtC brand positions with the DtC CEO and MECW senior management team, retaining a strong visual identity and advocate our external profile and reputation.
  • Lead on conceptualising and executing diverse events, from local climbing competitions to virtual campaigns, playing a pivotal role in fostering a vibrant and engaged community. 
  • Line manage a p/t social media content creator.
