If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to get in touch with the Mile End Climbing Wall or Rock On team.
You can arrive anytime from 10:00am and start at any time. The competition starts at 10:00am and will be running all day until close at 8:00pm.
The centre will be busy all day and you may have to queue at check in. We’re sorry for any queues, but know that our staff at working hard to get you in the centre and climbing as quickly as possible!
We anticipate reception will be particularly busy at 10:00am, so we recommend coming slightly later if you want to avoid longer queues at reception.
Please head straight to reception to check-in, pay your wall entry fee, and get your score card.
No, as we must check you in directly to the event and give you your score card - rather than checking you in as a general climber.
You must collect your scorecard from Mile End Climbing Wall reception.
Our address is Mile End Climbing Wall, Haverfield Road, London, E3 5BE.
We recommend travelling to the wall by public transport. The nearest tube is Mile End station. We have extensive bike parking. There are also 2 Santander Cycle Hire docking stations a short walk from the centre.
Yes, but our car parking spaces are limited. We recommend travelling by bike, foot, or public transport.
You can complete your waiver form here. Please complete your waiver form a head of the event so we can get you checked in and climbing as quickly as possible.
Yes! All climbers are welcome at Fossil Fest, but only people aged 40+ are allowed to compete. All climbers must complete our waiver form if it is there first time climbing at Mile End.
Our child supervision rules apply. Under 18s must be supervised by an adult who is signed off as a competent climber. An adult can supervise up to two children and must not climb while supervising.
If your child is 14 or older, and is a competent boulderer who can climb unsupervised at another centre, your child can take our Junior Comptetent Boulderer test. Find out more about our Unsupervised Junior Climbers policy here.
We recommend visiting the centre in the week leading up to Fossil Fest to do this test, as we cannot guarantee that we can do this test quickly on the day. Our team’s priority must be checking people in for the event, so you may have to wait if you plan for your child to do this test on the day.
Please note that Junior Competent Climber tests which include rope climbing cannot happen on the day of Fossil Fest.
We will be taking photos and videos for marketing purposes throughout the event. If you don’t want your face featured in these, please collect a wristband from reception so our Marketing Team know not to film you.
Please note that you could still feature in the background of some wider shots, but we will make sure your face isn’t in this and try to avoid this as much as possible.
Please return your scorecard to the Rock On shop when you've finished climbing. Scorecards must be returned by the end of the day at 8:00pm.
Competition routes will be clearly marked by tape and route labels.
Each category winner will receive a pair of climbing shoes (or equivalent from the Rock On shop), and we’ll have winners for slightly more random prizes throughout the day. As we all know, it’s the taking part that matters!
Yes, we will have limited edition Fossil Fest 2025 T-shirts on sale, Fossil Fuel lager, and free stickers.
We’ll be serving hot food and drinks (soft and alcoholic – yes, Fossil Fuel has arrived…) from midday in our Front Yard.
We’ll finish serving food at 3:00pm but our bar will remain open. We cannot accept cash for drinks at our outdoor bar.
Yes.
We will be serving hot drinks (tea, coffee, etc.), soft drinks and a range of snacks from our café at our counter. Please note that during busy periods, we must prioritise checking climbers in and service of hot drinks may be slower than usual – so please bear with us!
